What protects it

Its protection against a thief is the steel and the boltwork: a 14-gauge body, a door of 0.1875-inch steel plate, and eight 1-inch bolts moving on three sides. A hardplate guards the lock, and a relocker holds the bolts shut if the lock is attacked.

The door opening is a little smaller than the inside: 53.25 inches tall and 18.25 wide, against an interior 21.19 inches wide. Check anything broad or boxed against the opening.

Delivery and Siting

At 345 lbs it ships by freight and is delivered to the curb by a liftgate truck. This safe travels by freight truck, and the carrier will call ahead to arrange a delivery window, so someone will need to be home. The driver lowers it by liftgate to your curb or the end of your driveway. Freight drivers don't bring deliveries inside, up steps or into the garage.

Two or three people with a stair-climbing appliance dolly can bring it indoors, or a local safe mover can do it for you.

It is not a media safe. The fire rating protects paper. Hard drives, USB sticks, memory cards and film need an interior held below 125°F, and this safe makes no such claim.

It is not water rated. No claim is made. A house fire usually brings a great deal of water from the hoses, so keep papers in sealed bags inside if that matters to you.

It is not a UL burglary-rated safe. No burglary listing is claimed. Its protection is the steel, the boltwork, the relocker and being fixed where it stands.
