What protects it

Its protection against a thief is the steel and the boltwork: a 14-gauge body, a door of 0.1875-inch steel plate, and eight 1-inch bolts moving on three sides. A hardplate guards the lock, and a relocker holds the bolts shut if the lock is attacked.

The door opening is smaller than the inside: 47.19 inches tall and 12.19 wide, against an interior 15.5 inches wide. Check anything broad or boxed against the opening, not the interior.

Delivery and Siting

At 240 lbs this safe travels by freight truck, and the carrier will call ahead to arrange a delivery window, so someone will need to be home. The driver lowers it by liftgate to your curb or the end of your driveway. Freight drivers don't bring deliveries inside, up steps or into the garage.

From there two people and a stair-climbing hand truck can bring it in, taking any steps slowly.

What this is not

It is not a media safe. The fire rating protects paper. Hard drives, USB sticks, memory cards and film need an interior held below 125°F, and this safe makes no such claim.

It is not water rated. No claim is made. A house fire usually brings a great deal of water from the hoses, so keep papers in sealed bags inside if that matters to you.

It is not a UL burglary-rated safe. No burglary listing is claimed. Its protection is the steel, the boltwork, the relocker and being fixed where it stands.
