The T-10 label
MagnaVault EX carries Hayman's own HSC T-10 burglary label, and Hayman publish the test. Two experienced operators, under a test director, attack the door, the body and the boltwork for ten minutes of working time, with hand tools, power tools, grinding points and carbide drills up to half an inch. To pass, the safe must neither open nor give up a six-square-inch hole.
Behind the UL-listed electronic lock, a hardplate covers the whole locking bolt system. If the lock is attacked, two relockers fire: a spring-loaded mechanical one and a tempered glass one. The bolts are 1.25 inches across, the door 4.75 inches thick with half an inch of steel in it, and the hinges carry replaceable wear washers.
The T-10 test assumes a safe under 750 lbs is fixed down, and this one has four half-inch mount holes for the purpose.
105 minutes, and the concrete behind it
The body is 2.75 inches of formed steel filled with fire-resistant concrete, and Hayman give it 105 minutes of fire protection: time enough for the fire that takes a while to reach and longer to put out. Hayman's listing does not give the test temperature or the laboratory. Ask us and we'll find out.
The inside
The shelves are half-inch tempered glass, so the light that comes on automatically when the door opens reaches the bottom of the safe rather than stopping at the first shelf. There is a key hook plate on the inside.
Delivery & Siting
At 443 lbs it ships by freight and is delivered to the curb by a liftgate truck. The carrier will call ahead to arrange a delivery window. The driver lowers the safe at your curb or the end of your driveway; freight drivers don't bring deliveries inside, up steps or into garages.
From there it is heavy work for at least two people, even with a stair-climbing hand truck.
Bringing the safe inside is a separate service, which we can help you arrange after you order.
At 21.75 inches wide it clears an ordinary house doorway.
What this is not
It is not a media safe. The fire rating protects paper. Hard drives, USB sticks, memory cards and film need an interior held below 125°F, and this safe makes no such claim.
It is not water rated. No claim is made. A house fire usually brings a great deal of water from the hoses, so keep papers in sealed bags inside if that matters to you.
It is not UL burglary-listed. Its burglary label is Hayman's own T-10, described above, and Hayman publish the test in full.
