American Security (AMSEC) RF582820X6 - External Dimensions - 64"H × 34"W × 29.25"D - 3,420lbs
This is one of our heaviest and impressive safes, and it is heavy for good reason as it has the highest security and fire-rating that Amsec gives to their residential safes. This extraordinary safe is one built to a commercial burglary standard: UL TL-30x6, meaning all six sides held out against thirty minutes of attack with hand and power tools in an Underwriters Laboratories test. It also carries an independently certified fire rating of two hours at 1850°F, and has nearly nineteen cubic feet inside.
American Security (AMSEC) build it in the USA, with a 6-inch composite door and a body 3 inches thick, filled with high-strength concrete. Inside there is LED lighting with a mirrored back, a three-outlet power strip with USB and organizers on the door. It is rated for 24 long guns and 2 on the door.
What it holds
Room for long guns, the jewelry that has been living in a bank box, and the loose stones from a ring that was never reset.

What TL-30x6 means
Most home safes with a UL burglary rating carry RSC, which is a five-minute attack test. TL-30x6 is a commercial-grade rating, the kind found on jewelers' safes. Underwriters Laboratories' testers go at a sample with hand tools, drills, grinders, pry bars and power saws, and the safe has to hold for 30 minutes of net working time, the clock stopping whenever they pause to change tools.
The x6 is the part that matters most. A plain TL-30 rating covers the door and its front face. Here all six sides were tested, the walls, top and floor included, so there is no softer panel at the back for a thief to work on instead.
Delivery and Siting
At an extraordinary 3,420 lbs - 1.71 tons - this safe travels by freight, its weight exceeds the ability of the freight company to lower it off the truck. It will arrive at an R&L Freight terminal nearest to where you live.
From there we will see to it being moved to your home and placed in a ground floor location such as on a concrete slab, in the garage, which is the natural home for a safe this heavy. Any other more complicated location may incur an extra charge.
On the maker
American Security are based in Fontana, California, and make everything from home safes to high-security commercial units. The RF series is built in the USA to UL's TL-30x6 standard: a commercial-grade rating, put to work on a safe for long guns. If you need a figure we haven't listed, ask us and we'll put the question to American Security.
Questions
What does TL-30x6 mean?
The safe held out against a 30-minute Underwriters Laboratories attack with hand and power tools, on all six sides.
Will it fit through my door?
Turned sideways, its 29.25-inch depth has to clear the opening. That is tight against a standard interior door, so measure every opening on the route, and ask the movers whether a frame needs to come out.
Can it go on an upper floor?
Only with a structural engineer's say-so. At 3,420 lbs it belongs on a concrete slab.
Who certified the fire rating?
American Security describe it as independently certified, 120 minutes at 1850°F, without naming the laboratory. Ask us and we'll find out.
Which lock does it come with?
American Security offer electronic and mechanical locks for the RF series. Tell us which you want before you order and we'll confirm what is available for this listing.
Will it protect hard drives or USB sticks in a fire?
No. It is rated for paper. Digital media needs a safe rated to keep its interior below 125°F.
