American Security (AMSEC) NF5924 - External Dimensions - 59"H × 24"W × 18"D - 600lbs

Inside it is lit, with an AC power outlet and an organizer on the door. American Security (AMSEC) rate it for 16 long guns and 1 on the door, and finish it in a textured taupe gray with black nickel hardware.
What it holds
Room for long guns standing upright, a laptop in its sleeve beside them, and the box of letters you would go back in for.

Two ratings, two tests
The burglary rating is Underwriters Laboratories'. To earn UL RSC Level I, a sample of the safe is attacked with pry bars, hand tools and small power tools for five minutes of working time, and the door has to hold. It is the residential burglary rating, earned in a laboratory.
The fire rating is ETL's, another independent laboratory: 90 minutes in a furnace at 1200°F with the inside kept below the point where paper chars. The walls are lined with layers of drywall, whose gypsum gives up its bound water as steam in a fire and holds the heat back while it does.
Where the inches go
The outside is 18 inches deep; the inside is 10. The difference is the door, the back wall and the fill, which is what earns both ratings. We publish the interior because that is what you are buying, so check that whatever you mean to keep in it is less than 10 inches deep, a scoped rifle included.
Delivery and Siting
This safe travels by freight truck, and the carrier will call ahead to arrange a delivery window, so someone will need to be home. The driver lowers it by liftgate to your curb or the end of your driveway. Freight drivers don't bring deliveries inside, up steps or into the garage. At 600 lbs it is at the limit of what two strong people with a stair-climbing hand truck should attempt, and only on the level. Where there are steps, use a safe-moving company.
If you'd like it brought inside and positioned, contact us after you order and we'll help you arrange it with a safe mover near you. That service is priced separately.
What this is not
It is not a media safe. The fire rating protects paper. Hard drives, USB sticks, memory cards and film need an interior held below 125°F, and this safe makes no such claim.
It is not water rated. No claim is made. A house fire usually brings a great deal of water from the hoses, so keep papers in sealed bags inside if that matters to you.
It is not a commercial burglary safe. UL RSC is a real, independent rating, but it is the residential one, a step below the TL ratings used by jewelers and businesses.
On the maker
American Security are based in Fontana, California, and make everything from home safes to high-security commercial units. The NF series carries both an ETL fire rating and a UL burglary rating, the same two independent tests their heavier safes are sold on. If you need a figure we haven't listed, ask us and we'll put the question to American Security.
Questions
Why is the inside only 10 inches deep?
Because the walls and door are thick. That depth is where the fire and burglary ratings come from. Measure what you plan to store against it.
What is the AC outlet for?
Running the light, or a dehumidifier, or charging something overnight without leaving the door open. It needs a wall socket nearby.
What does UL RSC mean?
The safe passed an independent Underwriters Laboratories attack test with hand and power tools. It is the residential burglary rating.
Will it protect hard drives or USB sticks in a fire?
No. It is rated for paper. Digital media needs a safe rated to keep its interior below 125°F.
