A jewelry safe at chest-of-drawers height: 40 inches tall on a 20-inch-square footprint, finished in white. Inside is a six-drawer jewelry chest, an adjustable shelf, quilted faux leather, necklace hangers on the door, a mirrored back and a motion-sensor light.
The fire rating is 45 minutes at 1200°F, certified by ETL. Behind the lining it is a 12-gauge steel safe with a quarter-inch steel door plate and five 1.25-inch bolts on three sides.
What it holds
Room for rings, earrings and bracelets across the drawers, boxed watches on the shelf, and the long necklaces hanging untangled on the door.

The inside, thought through
The drawers keep small pieces flat and apart, so nothing is scratched by its neighbor. The shelf above takes watch boxes or a bag, and the door carries the necklaces at full length. The mirror lets you try a piece on before you close the door on the rest.
The electrical access hole is drilled through the steel but not the fireboard, so a cord can be run in without drilling the safe yourself.
Delivery and Siting
At 316 lbs it travels by freight and is delivered to the curb by a liftgate truck. This part of the service is free. The carrier will call ahead to arrange a delivery window, so someone will need to be home. The driver lowers it by liftgate to your curb or the end of your driveway. Freight drivers don't bring deliveries inside, up steps or into the garage. Bringing it in is a job for two or three people and a stair-climbing hand truck, taken slowly. At 20 inches wide it clears any doorway. Bolt it through the four anchor holes once it is in place.
What this is not
It is not a media safe. The rating protects paper. Hard drives, USB sticks, discs and film need an interior kept below 125°F, and this safe makes no such claim.
It is not water rated. No claim is made. A house fire usually brings a great deal of water from the hoses, so keep papers in sealed bags inside if that matters to you.
It is not a UL burglary-rated safe. No burglary listing is claimed. Steel, three-way boltwork and a hard plate over the lock make it slow work for a thief, but it is a home safe, not a jeweler's safe.
On the maker
American Security (AMSEC) make safes in Fontana, California, from small home units through to high-security commercial safes. The JS series is their jewelry range, fitted out for the dressing room rather than the garage. If you need a figure we haven't listed, ask us and we'll put the question to American Security.
Questions
Will it fit through my door?
Yes. It's 20 inches wide, against 30 to 32 inches for a typical interior door.
What is the electrical access hole for?
It lets a cord be run into the safe. It goes through the steel, not the fireboard.
Is the fire rating independent?
Yes. It is ETL certified to 1200°F for 45 minutes.
Will it protect hard drives or USB sticks in a fire?
No. It's rated for paper. Digital media needs a safe rated to keep its interior below 125°F.
Does it need bolting down?
We'd recommend it. There are four anchor holes and the hardware is included.
